Once, I literally got my face wet, when I was reaching the back bottom of my tank on a step stool. My shirt is soaked all the time( at least my right sleeve). I would think someone that is half way in the tank to fix a minor issue that could have been left alone or completed with a plant fixing stick. Probably exclamation swearing underwater. Well, maybe that's just me

This is pretty typical of a hardcore reefer.

Or maybe using every square foot for reef stuff.

Never wasting a single piece of live rock.

Leveling the tank no matter what it takes.

Making water no matter the weather.

Working with water and electricity.

Does aquascaping drills on demand.

Finds problems and solves them.

And all of these things were in a single month back in February 2011. lol

Really though you could have the guy in Melevs post or the guy from the ad who dives in a tank in his living room but really you could do a lineup pic that had a:
A chef
A stripper
A science teacher
A healthcare consultant (thats me)
A DEA agent
An electrician
A comic book illustrator
And a Rapper

And that would be a true behind the scenes representation into who Hard Core Reefers are behind all of our avatars!!

This ^ all of this. A hardcore reefer has gear stashed all over the place, a dedicated cupboard full of stuff, a garage with enough spare tanks and equipment to set up at least another two systems and more buckets and towels than anyone would need

Oh, There's not much more hard core than Joe! Or Marc levenson, Mike paletta, Julian sprung, Dr. Sanjay joshi.........the list goes on and on, you get the idea.

Any reefer dedicated to the hobby and the animals in their care, in it for the long haul and lives it everyday, passionate about learning, sharing and teaching others to do the same. Willing to lend a hand to a reefer in need at 2:00 in the morning when there's a tank leak, power outage or tank crash.

That's hard core to me.
