Apparently the whole piece is worth $2000. I can get a frag of it for just under $400. Worth it? Anyone know what its called?

I'll go out on a limb and guess some sort of welso. My opinion, $400 for a frag isn't worth it. You can get plenty of other cool stuff for that amount. But if you have the coin, and it makes you happy, go for it.

I saw that. Rich stated in text it is actually a scoly and he fragged it. It may be a new subspecies. A friend who has a coral store got in a bunch of lobos from Australia. But they look like scolys. This may be similar type of thing . He did say it was also from australia.

It is absolutely stunning! I believe we must stop the price gauging by not paying it. No offense to the vendors...but come on. Only the rich can get these type of pieces, but what about the rest of us? If none of us pay it then the vendors would be forced to drop prices to the realm of reality. Fantastic pieces like this should cost more...but only so much more. Unfortunately, I know reality and that will not happen.

I do agree most all corals that can be fragged often are over priced. But this is a rare find. There can not be many of them. Rich stated it is a type of scoly. It being fragged and a scoly it will be awhile before it heals enough to resemble the colony. Unlike palys and chalices which are way over priced, there may never be more than a few of this years from now. You will more than likely have a very rare coral.

This is a five mouth master scolly that came from exotic Sealife.. I sold it to rich and he now owns It. It is 100% a scollymia and derives from Australia. Not anything to debate here..
