Hey all,
Noticed this on my PBrT today it’s on both sides of his body in a line. What do you think this is, ich possibly or something else?
Thanks

It's not ich and it's not HLLE. Did it show up suddenly, or could it have developed over a few days? I can see a bit of material on the pectoral fins, where they contact the lesion. Lymphocystis transfers like that, but it doesn't show up in just a day.

Thanks for the quick reply. So I’m actually on vacation right now I have family taking care of the tank and they forwarded me this today. They state that they first noticed it today but they also aren’t looking at each fish thoroughly like I do everyday so it sure can have been over a few days. I just read up on Lymphocystis so basically there’s no treatment, just low stress, vitamins and good water parameters? I’ll be home this weekend will be doing a water change immediately.
Thanks Jay!

He has had something similar in the past but not this bad, last time was just very very little on fins and body and went away on its own. He seems healthy otherwise, eating like a pig, etc!

I am hoping someone else will get on here and possibly confirm whether or not they think it is Lympho. Compared to many people on here I have limited knowledge on fish disease! If it is Lympho though you may find this thread helpful. Some of the responses have different types of treatment suggestions.

Ah - yes, the lack of you having eyes on this fish would allow Lymphocystis to get started without the other people noticing it. I think that is it. However, it is a slightly odd presentation - more surface area than usual, and on the body instead of on the trailing edges of the fins. Lymphocystis usually resolves itself, but sometimes, it gets really severe. If it involves the mouth, it can impede feeding. Still, noting to be done but to wait.

I didn’t even get home yet and my family said that it’s no longer on the fish it’s disappeared already, that is a quick recovery, No?

Yes - that went away way too quick to be Lymphocystis, it must have just been a smear of mucus, possibly as a reaction to running into something?
