I purchased a yellow acropora from my LFS that looks exactly like this acro. It had a very similar type of tag with letters/numbers on it.

What do these tags signify?

Photo from google as a reference of the tag I’m referring to.

probably an identifier for the shipping company or even vendor to know what of their inventory is sold

As stated above chances are these are maricultured colonies coming in from the south pacific via sea dwelling creatures in LA. Ive gotten a bunch from them. They claim they are aquacultured but I won't belive it with the amount of barnacles, crabs and clams that hitch hike in on them.

Who knows, they might be legally collected wild specimens...

That is the tag with country of origin on it. It is a maricultured colony most likely from Indonesia.

That is 100% a Mariculture tag. Its an Identifying tag of region.

I did forget to mention that my LFS already told me it was mariculture. Thanks! I didn’t know the tags meant that though! :D

If it looks like a mini colony, comes on a large base with a bunch of stuff growing on it, and has that tag, then it is probably a maricultured colony. My colony of favia (dipsastraea) also has a tag like that.
