How old is your tank? What are your parameters (and have they been stable over time)? What kind of lighting and what kind of rock did you start with. Need way more specific, detailed information before can even attempt to point you in the right direction.

If I understand you correctly, it was just fine till a couple days ago? What has changed? IME some changes, that seem small to us, have a profound effect on the corals. Usually they will adapt fairly quickly. I would give it a few more days. Closed up is fine... melting is not. Are you seeing signs of dissolving flesh? Did you move a rock? Powerhead? Return pump inlet? Has the flow changed in any way? Have you changed your lighting even a little?

I see so many posts of this nature, and everyone stresses out over water parameters... It is most often that small change in flow pattern, or light that is the culprit.

OK sorry I didn't give enougn info. The tank is the Cade 600 p r. I've had it up n running since Jan. 1 of this year. The roçk is live from a business n Florida. To had been 7nder water for 23 years. The light is the Kessil 160 and its set on 65% at p3ek of day. I feed morn n night ABReef nutrition by red sea. They have been n the tank about 4months and were perfect until first cotton candy retracted ..I did put a nano circulation pump to help increase flow to them n get the cotton candy to come out but no luck there and n9w my hellfire doing I my # are from last Thur, just before my weekly w/c on Fri. The # s are: temp 77.5. Salinity. 1.024. PH -8.62 and dropping Nitrite 00. Nitrate 3.1. Phos. 00. Cal. 500. All 14.7; and working g to bring it down. A couple of months ago my phos., nitrate , pH were off the charts, I've been doseing RedSea and since have my # almost where I want. Oh ya my mag was1380

A couple things stand out. Having Alk swings, and having out of range Alk can cause what you’re seeing. Your PH is also pretty high (likely because your Alk is so high). Were you dosing some sort of Alk supplement or PH buffer? Your phosphate being zero could also be the culprit. The addition of the new powerhead could also be the issue (though retracting for several days due to slight change to flow is unlikely), if it is the cause, they will adjust fairly quickly (so long as the flow isn’t way too much).

You said you’re dosing ‘Red Sea’, do you mean No3Pox? If so, you may want to lower the dose as your phosphates are bottoming out, not only could this be the cause of your current issue, but it can also lead to dinoflagellates.

i would also raise your salinity to 1.026 or 35ppm, but that wouldn’t be the cause of the issue.

Those are the things that stand out to me, should be fairly easy fixes.

You need measurable phosphate.
