I currently have 2 clownfish in my 29G BioCube. While my tank is cycling I was wondering what livestock you guys would personally add your self?

  • compatible with clownfish (obviously, and I already read the marine compatibility chart.)
  • Something very eye catching, beautiful, Koran Angels catch my eye but just can't put in my tank, way too big but beautiful.
  • Also need a cleanup crew as well (thinking about cleaner skunk shrimp.)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd probably do a watchman goby with pistol shrimp, maybe a royal gramma. A possum wrasse if the clowns would leave it alone..

Many may disagree but an orchid dottyback goes well with clowns. I had one in my 29 before I broke it down. I loved that fish. It will get aggressive though.

With my two Clowns in my 29g, I just add a Pygmy Angel and Royal Gramma. They have only been in there for a day, but so far, things seem to be going pretty well! I mean, occasionally I may see a tiny, tiny bit of altercation, but not much. I also have a Cleaner Shrimp and Fire Shrimp in there which add lots of fun and color!

I totally see where you are coming from! They sure do get big though. And I'm not sure if you were looking at a Juvenile, but they lose that cool blue-stripe coloring as they age. Still beautiful fish though as they get older for sure though! :)

Here are some options that would work: yellow assessor, sunburst anthias, geometric pygmy hawkfish, a group of barnacle blennies, stigmatura blenny, circus goby, neon goby, watchman goby/shrimp pr, firefish, royal gramma, orchid or elongatus dottyback, Wetmorella or pink streak wrasse.

Doesn't a sunburst anthias get to big for a 29? Just wondering cause I have a34 thought that was out of the realm of possibility days it gets up to 5 inches

No, a sunburst will be fine in a 29g. For one thing, they are very slow growers, and most come in quite small. Secondly, they are not very active, so don't need near as much space as a comparably sized fish.

how about this

I know what you mean about slow growing I have seen the same sunburst at my fish store for years it looks like the same size it's for his private tank

Royal grammar is good for nano. I feel a carpenter wrasse is probably okay as well.
