Tried to catch it but only got a small part of it the way it was moving over the rocks resembled an octopus but without the legs and the little bit I have in the glass continues to move any ideas

They are predatory to snails and clams, occasional you'll come across a type that munches on corals.

I think they are really cool, but should be removed.

That explains why it was on my turbo snail then and I've been finding Stomatella shells it's huge I only managed to grab a chunk of it as it went into.a rock ill have to have a go at digging it out tomorrow can it reproduce from tiny fragments left or will it just die.

Rather than digging around for it, wait and look at night for it, it will go back to the snails. You can even bait a trap with a snail. They move incredibly fast and blend in really well so I doubt you'll find it by just looking.

I am not certain of their regeneration abilities.

Good luck on your hunting adventure. :)

Cheers thanks for identifying it hopefully there no more in there !!

Got another polyclad now spotted it on a turbo snail :( it's defo a different one as the other was mashed up completely ill go get some nice fresh clams tomorrow from supermarket and make a trap for them

It's been one thing after another I have contemplated getting LFS to look after all my coral stock and removing live rock and killing it all of and any other hitchikers I may have and replace all sand and start again. It's starting to grind me down the one thing after another !!
