How do you guys mount your corals. I went to feed reef roids today. Corals loved it, but i knocked over my aussie torch in the process and thought to myself i should probably glue it down. I go to glue it down and ended up with a lot of superglue on my fingers and barely secured the frag plug. Is epoxy better for mounting, looking back i prob should have removed the frag and added glue on it before securing. Feel bad since my lawn mower blenny liked to sleep leaning against the torch for the last month

I cut off the nub of the frag plug with heavy cutters carefully because the frag can fly out of your hand or your hand can break the coral. Clean and dry the bottom of the plug then put a small blob of super glue gel on the bottom of the frag or coral. Then smash a pre mixed marble sized piece of epoxy on top of the glue then add another small blob of gel and then mount. Sometimes its a good idea to scrub the spot you are mounting to also.

IC-Gel or Reef Glue work great. You just lift your coral out of the water, apply a good amount to bottom, then place back underwater. Place the glued side to desired attachment target, then twist and turn it slightly to release more of the glue from the core of the wad you made. Hold the coral in place for over 30 seconds to seal.

This should go without saying but be careful not to get glue on the coral heads. It is for to remove in some cases.

Don't be afraid to lift coral up out of thewater in order to get better manipulation and glue targeting . I didn't realize when I started this hobby that corals can safely be out of water for minutes at a time. They release a hydrophilic slime over their surface that keeps them moist and healthy when exposed to open air.
