What filter media for QT tank?

Im setting up a 10gal QT tank. I got a marineland HOB filter, and was wondering which of these can I seed with?

the power filter, but contains carbon, and I want to be able to treat. So probably dont want this, right?

and the biowheel.

Should i discard the power filter and opt for a different filter?

I just cut the filter open and dumped out the carbon for use in my QT, keeping the mechanical filtration in place. Use Dr. Tim’s bacteria on the bio wheel.
