I bought a few corals the other day, and I have no clue which fish has been knocking it down and picking at it. I have been sold fish that eat corals and are very aggressive.

I want to know which fish are the best to keep in a coral environment. Suggestions are very welcome! :)

Here are the fish that I currently have in the tank

Domino Damsel (this is the only aggressive one)
Clownfish
Yellow tang
Spanish hogfish
Angel fish (this kind)

Copperband butterfly fish
Sailfin tang
Fox face
Double Sattle butterfly
Similar damsel

One of these fish has to be messing with the corals. It would be nice if you can tell me which one, because the fish never do anything while I'm watching.

Most likely the angels. The one you posted a picture of is an emperor angel but you could also have a koran angel, they look very similar when they are juveniles. Both of the angels have been known to nip at and mess with corals. It's always best to extensively research something before adding it to your tank, even if it's not the funnest activity out there ;)

You can also always ask questions on here about a particular fish before you buy it, just to make sure it will work with your other critters!

Wow. Thanks guys! I also have this fish. What's it called? Picture from my tank.

That is a marine betta, also known as a comet/comet grouper

Calloplesiops altivelis

Also. This is a picture of the angel fish. It does look like the Korean. The image above looks slightly similar, but it's not it.

It probably is one then. That looks like a Koran that is just beginning its color/pattern change into an adult.

Also you might want to start researching your prospective purchases before hand. Your LFS wants to make money, they will tell you what they need to in order to make the sale.
Whoa... Not all LFS employees do that - Me a LFS employee ;)

Those angels eat coral.

How big is your tank?

The angel and the double saddle butterfly will eat corals.

Copperbands may nip some corals and foxface may nip some corals.

Spanish hogs flip coral.

I apologize, I should know better because I was also one not out for the money. Most LFS, not all. And some employees may just be inexperienced, so there is that as well.

Perfect. Now, what fish are recommended for reef tanks with corals? I will remove the aggressive and coral eating fish.

I like clown fish. I currently only have one. Are there any calm fish that I can add to coral environments?

Firefish are great little fish. Colorful and different looking. I like'm.

Excellent! It appears they are peaceful and won't eat corals. I will look for them at the shop.

Any other personal favorites are welcome! :)

How big is your tank? It'll help determine what fish to suggest.
