Are there any guides for fish that aren't tolerant of the current QT protocol and what alternatives might be used?

Which fish? I have to imagine it depends a lot on if the problem is "needs to be kept in a tank stocked with pods" (i.e. mandarins not eating prepared foods yet) versus "can't tolerate meds".

Bit dated, but might still help:

most scale-less fish and eels and sharks and some puffers.
Alternatives are Tank Transfer Method(TTM) requiring patience and Hyposalinity - dropping salinity to 1.009. Some fish are sluggish in hyposalinity. While not recommended, you can run copper at 2.0

It depends entirely on what species you are talking about. Our current quarantine process is best for most bony fishes, with just a few exceptions. Sharks, rays and a few oddballs need to be handled differently.
