I have a Red Sea Reefer 350L. My tank is fully cycled rocks etc. What are the best starter fish and corals to get?
I am based in NZ so maynot have access to everything available in the US?

TY

Occelaris clownfish

Watchman goby

Cleaner shrimp

Starry Blenny, Midas Blenny

For corals id recommend:

Zoas

Mushrooms

Some easy stony corals:

Euphylia (torch, hammer,frogspawn)

Acans

Easy sps:

Stylopora

Be sure to read up on every species you wanna get.gl!

Other easy corals include...
Softies -
Leathers (Sarcophytom, Lobophytum, Sinularia, Cladiella, Capnella, etc); they have common names as well
GSP
Clove Polyps (the big ones; don't get the small ones they are super invasive)

LPS -
Candy Canes and Trumpets (Caulastrea)
Duncans
Blastomussa

SPS -
Montipora capricornis
Seriatopora and Pocillopora (same family as Stylophora)

definitely clowns, they are hardy and not shy fish however u can only house 2 per tank. Just a heads up about Damsels, some of them are down right nasty fish that'll terrorize your tank and stress other inhabitants but for the most part clowns are safe. If you like corals that move in the water for more visual effect, then Euphyllias are very nice to look at. For corals that look full, leather (Devil's hand) are cheap and hardy. u can research https://www.liveaquaria.com/ for marine livestock, can search based on tank size, skill level and livestock care level. Good luck.

I definitely agree on the Euphyllia Corals. My Frogspawn and Hammer have been through all sorts of things that should hurt or kill them and they keep bouncing back (ie Tank Transfer, Fluctuation in temperature and Salinity levels, A major rockscape re-organization, shift, some errant salt from the top of the tank falling directly onto one of them). This is the result after all that:

As for fish, given the size of the tank, I would strongly recommend looking into some wrasses. They are arguably the most underrated fish in the hobby and it's a shame as the Peaceful varieties strike pretty much every chord, relatively reef safe (some might munch on inverts, but not corals), brightly colored, very active and full of personality. Among my favorite is the Melanurus:

There's a lot of reef safe wrasse that have a variety of color

Thanks alot looks great

Thanks everyone some good help :)

You can go to the Live Aquaria web site and look for fish that are EASY, PEACEFUL and REEFSAFE.

That being said, fire fish or other dartfish. Bengai Cardinals. Some of the smaller tangs like the Kole tang. Some of the easier flasher or fairy wrasses are good. And most gobies are fine. You might try chromis but they have a tendency of murdering each other.

For corals, many people like soft corals. They are undemanding. Some of the hard corals are relatively undemanding. Acans are nice and come in a nice variety of colors.

I only have hard corals. They require serious lights, more flow and are more demanding of stability and lower nutrient levels. It took me awhile bit I have a variety of corals including acropora that are doing well. But that might not be for you.

TY I will look into this.2
