What fish do you wish you could have?

I want a Blue face angel and I will have one some day. I just cant find one.

I got mine on Diver's Den about 3 years ago. Pure juvenile stage. He's now a full adult of course but has been great in the reef. Doesn't pick at SPS.

What I would love to have is this

The barreleye is such a cool little fish. Amazing adaptation. Eyes inside the transparent head. Great choice. :0)

Try captive bred. Mine eats pellets and frozen mysis now.

I found out there’s actually a VERY pretty wrasse (I knew it existed but didn’t know it was this close to home) The cuckoo wrasse, Labrus mixtus. It’s one of the three wrasse species found around the UK, if it was possible I would try keep one in captivity however I know they get big so it’d be Atleast a 300g tank and a cold water one, although it would open up to many cold water options.

I collected this little 1/2" guy in the Atlantic. After a year or two he got to big and I gave him to the New York Aquarium.

You might want to consider moving the orange spotted filefish to the realistic list. A lot more people are having success due to newer foods like Masstick and Panta Rhei Polyp. I have 6, 3 for over a year.

yeah you’re probably right. As of now though, it’s not super realistic. I’m building my first ever reef (120g). I’ve got the go ahead for a dream tank years from now (thinking an 8x3x24). When I get there I feel like the orange spot would be more realistic. If only because I think at that point it would be the right balance of corals and ecosystem vs their need to eat the mucus.

out of cusiosity, what size tank are your beauties in? I swear I’ve read your threads about them but I can’t remember much about your tank other than it’s gorgeous

I have them in a 150 with virtually no sps coral. I tried keeping some sps……but I killed it. They actually do great without coral in their diet. Mine all have full bellies nearly all the time. You do need to feed them frequently. I have an auto feeder that spits out pellets 4X a day, I give them Masstick in the morning and feed frozen 1-2 times per day.

interesting. And here all I’ve heard is they need to have access to coral to thrive. Youve got me excited now. I’m already planning on getting an auto feeder down the line because I want some anthias.

let it be known the orange spot filefish is now a realistic dream for me. Just more of a long term one
