I need help trying to figure out what Fish to get next! It’s been about a year since I’ve added any fish to the tank. The 55gal tank has been running for 2.5 years now and I have a clown pair, as well as a YWM pored with a coral banded.

The thing I’m struggling with is I have (3) 3-striped damsels and I didn’t really know how tank friendly they were when I introduced them. The clowns and the damsels chase eachother but nothing damaging. Maybe a bite here or there but I have plenty of rocks (see attached) and they stay on their respective sides when the lights go out. The wife likes them and won’t let me get rid of them.

Any ideas what fish I could get next? I want to add something new!

Damselfish very aggressive and will not do well with peaceful fish.

Hawkfish (may eat small fish though as long the fish bigger than him be ok)
Wrasse as well

look for aggressive or semi-aggressive fish and should be ok

I have a four stripe damsel and it was the most aggressive fish in my tank. It kill a green chromis and probably stressed a coral beauty to death. I was able to add fish later on, because I blocked a small section of the tank with egg crates, and kept the damsel in it for a few weeks. You could put a six line wrasse, it will not be intimidated by the clowns not the damsel.

Damsels can be bullies and destructive .
which might have it harder to add anything new .
Is there something you had in mind or like ?

IMO you should just get rid of the damsels, you can get all kinds of different fish if you didn’t have them. But to answer your question I think a flame hawk fish and a dottyback would be ok.
