I was just curious what some folks fish stock lists look like for larger reef tanks. Really seems like the options open up with such large tanks.

That's a good question, I have a 180 & not sure which way "I" want to go with a fish list. That's the key, what would You like for fish? If You want corals it's gonna narrow/make the choices easier also. When You look at another big tank,do You like a bunch of smaller fish that add a lot of color & movement? Maybe You see your tank as mostly showcasing the corals. I don't have a set fish list. I think I want a few larger peaceful fish with a few smaller rock dwellers.... Maybe ? LOL

I’m a compete noob but here is what I have in my 210g so far. It’s only been fully set up for 4 months so I’m not sure how my list will do long term.

16 green chromis
7 lyretail anthias
4 Bartlett anthias
1 midas blenny
1 blue sided fairy wrasse
1 solorensis wrasse
2 ocellaris clowns
2 firefish
2 convict tangs

Plan on adding
1 yellow eyes like tang
1 yellow tang
1 blue hippo tang
1 coral beauty
1 longnose hawkfish

While I can't speak for your preferences, my future large tank (200 gallon range) will definitely have these fish along with other smaller fish as I figure out what's available (and as I get closer to actually planning/building this tank). I consider these fish the ones that I will design the tank around, all other fish will be like adding icing to the cake :)

Harlequin Tusk (Australian)
Borbonious Anthias
Purple Tang(s)
Blue Throat Trigger Pair (or a Crosshatch Trigger if I can manage to find one)

I also for some reason really want a dragon wrasse but I know that they are near impossible to keep in a reef tank without them moving everything around to their liking, including corals, so perhaps I will have one in FOWLR tank

It depend, do you want to go peaceful, aggressive or predator? Do you want reef safe?

For peaceful,

Two Bengai cardinals
Two fire fish
A blenny
A goby
Several fairy and flasher wrasses
Fairy basslet
Perhaps a small school of chromis

Some of the smaller tangs.....

Yellow tang or another smaller zebra soma

Kole tang or another of the same genus

Maybe a tang of another genus like a powder brown.

Maybe a fox face.

I tend to not cram a tank full of fish.

I bet this is a very active tank with that many anthias and chromis.

I would love to have school of anthias hanging over some branchy coral...... I don’t think a tank that large is in my future though, I gotta live through you guys that have one that big.
