Hello. I have a 29G tank I'm currently using as a coral QT/acclimation/grow out tank. I was having problems with nutrients, always 0, so I recently added a 6-line wrasse. Nutrients still very low, so was wondering if adding another fish would be wise. Maybe something like a purple dottyback. Or I guess I could just feed the wrasse more. What would be a good fish to add?

I wouldn’t go with a dottyback. They are way too aggressive to other fish. I had one in my 40 and destroyed a firefish and a cleaner shrimp.

Agree with above, although an orchid dottyback is a lot less aggressive than a purple/strawberry dottyback if your set on a dottyback. Firefish are always great additions especially the purple ones.

I was concerned more with the possible aggression of the 6-line wrasse. I'm not set on dottyback at all.

Seems that 6 lines are hit and miss with aggression. Mine never bothered any fish but startled them a lot with his quick movements until my CBB caught and ate him. I’d think since he’s the only one in that tank he won’t mind a couple additions as long as it’s not another wrasse. Just my opinion though

Blenny's are always fun. My Tail-spot has a load of personality and doesn't bother anyone unless my female Ocellaris messes with him. Then he grabs her by the lower jaw and gives her a good shake. Clown Gobies are for the most part docile and stay small. Firefish are nice but tend to be jumpers if startled. Hawkfish have a lot of personality but can be bullies at times like. Just a few options.

Chromis are nice fish. They tend to know fight each other off but if you can have a couple of them they have a bunch of personality. They will eat almost whatever you give them.

A royal gramma is also a nice addition. They can be a bit territorial but if you add him as one of the last fish you shouldn’t have a problem with aggression.

Hope this advice helped!!

Sorry my bad I meant CBS(coral banded shrimp) but I was in traffic so I shouldn’t have even wrote anything lol

A sixline will be aggressive to a dottyback or gramma in that size tank. They all stake out a territory around the rocks and defend it vigorously.

A flame or longnose hawkfish, stigmatura, starry, or orangespot blenny, grammistes blenny, pj cardinal would work.
