Hey guys,

With the 100G build i'm taking a dive into battery backup/life support options. I have a generator with a backfeed to the house, but i need to ensure that there is more than sufficient time for me to get to the house if i'm at work and turn the generator on or if I'm out of town. So the question is, what size powerhead angled to agitate the surface is needed to keep a 100G oxygenated??

I have a little DC 500-1000GPH powerhead i'm going to attach to a battery backup. But now i'm thinking that may not be enough... ? Thoughts???

What are you guys running?

John

Evening,

That sounds like more than enough to me. I would give it a test run. Should be just enough to break surface tension and get flow circulating around the tank to keep it oxygenated. Like you mentioned it is for life support so turn over is not key, keep O2 in the water is.

Just some thoughts. Good thing always being prepared. I once kept a fish only 55 going for 2 days by stirring it with a giant wood spoon, a lot. I bought 2 battery air pumps right after that with air stones ;Woot
