I have found the formula to figure out the mL needed to lower ALK a specific amount.

DKH drop x water volume x 0.123 = ML of muriatic acid to add
This formula is used in posts where Transchem 31.45% HCl is used.

How would the formula change for:

14.5% HCl
29% HCl

Both of those strengths are common in this area in the pool industry. 14.5% being sold in big box stores; Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart. 29% being sold in actual pool stores; Leslies.

Thanks
Drew

The amount needed decreases linearly with the strength.

31.45/14.5 = 2.2 times the amount
31.45/29 = 1.08 times the amount.

Here’s my thread on the amount needed. I’ve not doubled checked to calculation by the op:

Do you not have an Ace Hardware near you? That’s where I got Transchem and trust it more knowing others have used it without issue. 1 gallon will last you a few years.

I believe there is an Ace in town here, but having a pool I am buying a few gallons a month already, just different concentrations.
