I've seen a very short clip of a foxface on TV. It looks like a Magnificent but it had kind of a merle/splotchy pattern on its back where the dark spot would be. Anyone know what that one might be?

It was probably still a magnificent. I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to without a picture, but all fox faces change color very easily when they're stressed or when lighting conditions change quickly. Especially the magnificent will get blotchy some times since it is normally mostly white, but the color will always return to normal and lose the blotchy look if they're happy and healthy.
They also change at night to sleep...not just when stressed.
Checked that out and it's almost it, but not quite. Not enough white on it. The pattern was almost like the blue merle Australian shepherd dog, and it was only in the dark section. If nobody else has ideas I might have to go with the color alteration theory posted above.Tangan Black Foxface?
No...doesn't look like that one either. There is also the bicolor foxface..
