What goes where? (sump)

Hi All,

I have a 100g display and sump
Is approximately 30g. Looking at the
Picture, what goes where?

The first chamber seems to fill to the top before entering other chambers. Looks odd to me but if makes sense to you, please help.

first chamber from left to right is where the drain line from you tank goes and a protein skimmer next chamber is a small refuge like cheato or something if you want last chamber is for the return pump. thats what it looks like to me

Won't the chateo clog the flow to the return pump?

No, the cheato will go in the middle. I see a bubble trap between the middle and last chamber. My cheato floats. If you're having an issue with stray cheato, you can put some eggcrate before or after the bubble trap to catch the strays. Another option is to put a piece of foam in the bubble trap, although this would create more work for you (making sure detritus doesn't settle)

I don't think you will be able to add rock rubble or sand though since the bubble trap opening is on the bottom

Could I put all rock rubble in the first chamber?

From what I see and depending if a Skimmer would fit and if the water level would be high enough I would say the drain/protein Skimmer on the far right in the picture then then the middle is the return and the left is the refugium. It can be fed by the return pump or an extra pump or split the drain.

I agree more with jtgordon20's response. Having the refugium with the higher water level presents more options.
