What happened to my fish

Okay so I wouldn’t post this but it’s been over a day and I’ve tried looking everywhere it could be cchecked over flow, sump. Filter sock and every possible location and can not find this little guy I don’t know what they are called but I know they are always peaceful and never jumps I have a 45 gallon tank so I don’t think he could hide that good and there’s nothing in the tank that could just eat him all my fish are small or same size and not aggressive any ideas what could have happened?

That's a banggai Cardinal fish. Yeah they are usually very nice and only might have aggression towards their own kind. What clean up crew do you have? They can make fast work of a fish if it dies or they may drag it under a rock. Both have happened to me.

Skimjim is correct also. My Cardinal can almost hug a rock overhang and does when I do things like cleaning.

Yeah but I have three others in this tank that he usually hides with as a group and it’s only a 45 there’s not that many spots

You have 4 of them? I'd say 2 paired up and are now killing the other two. Clean up crew probably ate the body

I don’t think so because these were two pairs so if anything they would have killed the older one and for clean up crew I have just snails I don’t do hermits
