What happened to my giant feather duster?

I've had this feather duster for about 7 or 8 months. It has always been open and swaying around. I was thinking about it the other day and thought that I hadn't seen it for a week or so. It is still alive (I tapped on its tube and it went in), but it is tiny!

Did something eat it? I added a royal gramma and an orchid dottyback recently. Would one of those eat it? Parameters are fine, almost everything else is doing fine, inflating, PE, etc.

It’s alive considering you saw it go back it it’s tube and those fish won’t eat the feather duster

Right, but will it come back? Should I move it? I used to be like 1.5-2," now it's like 0.25."

I've had them shed their gills (feathers) and re-grow new ones.

I have found a lot of the large dusters wont make it long term without target feeding filter foods.....

What do you mean filter foods? Like reef roids?

Yes any small particulate food items.
