What happened to my turbo snail

So this morning I was looking at my tank like I always do and saw something that floored my my turbo snail was ripped in two??? I have a few hermit crabs who get well fed and are very tiny this turbo snail was only in the tank for a few months happy and to see this I don’t have anything that could have hurt him what happened???

Turbo snails can't turn themselves over so maybe they hermits saw that as weak and decided to kill him. Or more likely they just want his shell.

Do you have empty shells in the tank? If hermits find no suitable shell to exchange with, they will go kill for one.

Yes lots and they don’t even seem to care or near it

If they are larger in size and decided to go for the snail, it sounds like Labora has a better explanation.
