What happened to ozone?

So I've been reefing for a while now, but never really considered tackling using ozone until recently. I start shopping for equipment and it seems like ozone has all but been abandoned in the hobby, no ozone reactors in sight. So what happened? Is it really just so unpopular that no one bothers to make ozone reactors anymore?

I just start using these, oxidizer same as ozone, no moving parts. Add hydrogen peroxide as per instructions. Sochting Oxydator. Different sizes

To find out the public image of ozone you need to look no further than cpap mask cleaners calling their system "activated oxygen" .... Activated oxygen, also known as Ozone ...they flat out refuse to call it ozone.

I have been using Ozone for at least 15 years and I have also used UV. There is no comparison!
UV slowly kills bacteria, Algae and pests but Ozone actually disintegrates them like a moth going into a flame. You will never get cleaner water than when Ozone is running.

Ozone is not for people who don't want to spend the time to learn how to us it. If someone says they are smelling it in their house then they never actually learned how to use it. Ozone can wipe out your tank if you use it incorrectly, it's best to use small doses at timed intervals during the day. Controllers make it very easy to setup a schedule like one hour on and one hour off. Ozonated water should be passed through a small amount of carbon. I have had good results feeding it directly into my skimmer. It makes the Skimmer Skim a lot more stuff. Bottom line is that Ozone is not for everyone but it does work great when used properly.

It’s largely just fallen out of favor. I used it many many years ago on several tanks. Whether it’s worth the cost and effort, is clearly a very polarizing subject in our community.

I started using ozone and idk why others don’t, especially people with large systems. The thing is amazing and practically maintenance free.
