What happens to chloramines when water dries

I really should know this myself being sort of a chemist even. But so my question is if you have for example a filter sock that is damp with tap water with chloramines and if it is let air dry, what happens chemically to the chloramines? Goes up as chlorine gas?
How about washing filter socks in dilute bleach and traces of bleach remain. Sometimes the socks still smell chlorine after drying. Are they safe to use or do they need an additional rinse.

Assuming it did not breakdown first, chloramine will evaporate. The boiling point of monochloramine is reported to be only 24 deg C.

For socks smelling of bleach, after rinsing well and drying they are probably OK, but rinsing in a dechlorinating agent will eliminate any concern.

Ha! I am a Ph.D in disciplines of chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology. Spent a long career in both academic and pharmaceutical research. The basic education details that are not used or needed regularly fade away over the years.

I wish I had the discapline for university. I'm totally jealous of people who can complete a PhD. I did two semesters and really struggled to show up.
