Are other Acropora experiencing this? Last time I had Messenterial Filaments it was due to bottomed out po4. Do you test your alk, cal & mag? Have they been stable? You should get a test kit for your po4.

Your Acropora might be starving then. Based on your alk, cal and magnesium I would start with getting a po4 checker and test. Messenterial Filaments is a stress response, and it very well could be your po4 is low, which would make sense why it's happening.

You should always periodically check phosphates and nitrates and keep them within parameters never letting them zero out .

They are just feeding on plankton, eggs, and fish waste. I feed rods food almost daily, Very heavy. Fill in the gaps with 4-6 other feedings of high quality pellets or masstick.
Pretty much every evening at around the time when the anthias and sixlines start spawning most corals shoot out their filaments.
I strongly disagree it’s a stress response. For years I’ve had acro feeding just like this and they are always the healthiest ones that grow the fastest.

Mine do that when I feed with oyster eggs and reef chili. Not a problem.
