I have a red reefer 350 with a varios 8 return. I know it’s too much return flow for my tank but I had planned to add a few things to the pump (reactors etc..)
Anyhow, when I have it on level 3 with 3 blue lights on our of 5 I notice that my corals don’t look as good as when 4 out of the 5 blue light are on, on the varios.

Soo I think that’s more than 10x the tank in the return but I’m not sure if that’s too much but it seems like my corals do way way better at that high return flow and turn over.

Thoughts... opinions??

Do you have any other pumps/wavemakers in your tank? Most SPS are going to want about 3000GPH (35x water volume) of total flow in your tank and LPS about 1600 GPH (21x water volume). If you don't have any other pumps, then I'd suggest keeping your Varios down to a return flow rate of 10x or under and add some wave makers to make up the rest of the flow in the tank.
