What IS a chalice?

I see their in the LPS so they must be that but like what are they? Ive never really seen one before and I dont understand them. Do they encrust? Wheres the polyps on there? I just dont understand haha
 
Yes, you dont really need to feed them, every now and then i blast mine with some spot feeding, IMO thou they are pretty slow growers
 
Just imagine them as a bigger proportioned monti. The "eyes" are the polyps and at night most of them show their tentacles coming from these eyes. I find mine get really upset if I don't feed at least once a week, and the easiest time to feed is at night when the tentacles are out.

Here are 2 chalice I have the top one the green is the "EYE" (mouth)
THe bottom the red circles are the eye/mouth I have many more chalice but had these pics handy they are becoming my favorite coral.Mine grow fast enough to frag almost on a bi -monthly basis

its doubled in size and encrusted on all sides now, a happy coral and low maintenance IMO.

They look very cool. I have just more ?'s. They do encrust the rocks right? Can they make their own skeleton as well? And how hard are these to keep? Like SPS standards or LPS standards?
