What is a "tight fitting" lid?

I have a firefish in a fluval 9gallon flex- the lid is plastic and covers the entire tank. No chance of him jumping.

I'm setting up an IM 30L set up with the stock lid/net thingy, is that "tight" enough for both the firefish and a new flasher wrasse? Would hate to lose one of these guys due to them getting through the holes in the mesh

Yes, i have the exact tank, lid is very secure and secures the tank very well.

1/2" that's no bueno. Lol. Especially for a wrasse. If the head fits the body fits. And its usually 1 was bus pass.

The gap is small, but as Katrina said, when there’s a will there’s a way. It’s small chance but possible. The frame looks metal, can you pull it a bit to close up the gap.

Edit, or maybe run some weatherstripping or rubber seal to fill the gap as a thought

great idea! i'll try that and report back would make me feel a lot more comfortable if i knew there was no chance they were jumping!

This will work. They don't aim for openings. They just jump

You can close this gap with 3/4" tubing cut along the line and place onto rim OR swimming pool noodle cut and placed also. Both are water proof

Had a Yasha Goby jump thru this.

Never in a million years would I think it would fit. But it dove thru that tiny gap and ended up crispy on the floor.

Had the exact same thing happen with a yasha and that lid.
Put 2 yashas in, next day one was dried out on the floor.
It's a fine lid, much better than the old version previously used on the IM AIO tanks.
The old version, as pictured in some posts here, blocks way too much light.
But any small narrow slippery fish that launches itself at it will probably go through.
As far as the OP's concerns, I'd say firefish maybe, flasher wrasse highly unlikely to get through.

I am currently in the exact same position as the op, trying to figure out what to paste along the crack of the IM nuvo 10 lid so a hifin goby won’t jump out. Love the ideas of pool noodles or tubing
