So I have bare QT, some pvc pipes and a cascade filter.

Somehow my cupramine levels keep dropping. I do t keep ow what could be absorbing it. The tank have been running for months now and it should have enough biofilter. I don't see ammonia in the seachem ammonia alert badge.

Any ideas?

If you are dosing copper you will not have a bio filter as copper will kill it. How big is the QT and how much have you dosed of the cupramine?

It is most likely the sponges and filter floss. More likely the filter floss.

I have filter floss that has been absorbing copper in my QT.

As soon as my current batch of fish is out, I am going to remove it and replace it with fluval Biomax ceramic media (in DT seeding now).

Actually, the biofilter stays in tact. The copper can put a dent in the bacteria populations for a short time but they bounce back rather quickly.

For the record, I would lean toward the filter floss doing the absorbing as well.... assuming you are dosing the copper into the new saltwater before adding it to the tank during water changes.

+1 to biofilter staying in tact as well.
Unless you WAY overdose copper. Then you may have biofilter issues, but it won't much matter because the fish will likely not be able to handle it either.

I was taking out the floss and I noticed the carbon pads in the filter. I probably forgot to take them out after last QT treatment.

I will readjust tomorrow.

Thanks

That would definitely do it!
