Based on the description and without a better picture, I would say Dino’s.

Hard to tell from those pictures. Can you take some close up photos with less blues. Could be anything from Cyano Diatoms or Dinos

Definitely looks like Dinos. Key is going to be identifying which type and making sure your nutrient levels haven’t bottomed out. Getting a cheap microscope if you don’t have one a comparing what you see to the 4 most common Dinos. You’ll get a bunch of support over on the Nuisance Algae Forum.

Well, there are different methods depending on the type of Dino it is.

Let's start off by getting all of your tank parameters.
Mg 1300
Alk 8
Ca 400
Ph8.3
No2 0
No3 0 but I raised it these past couple of days
Po4.02
Ammonia 0

Ok, the fact that your NO3 was 0 and your PO4 is 0.02 still tracks with being Dinos. Raising nutrients is the first step which will help promote growth of other algaes that can out compete the Dinos.

I got rid of mine by raising nutrients and vacuuming them out of my tank every day for a month until they finally disappeared. I fed heavy to raise nutrient levels. This worked for me, but might not for you. Without knowing the type of Dino you have, it is a guessing game. You may need UV to get rid of them.

As @Ajayabb stated, with a cheap microscope you would be able to identify the type you have. There is a huge thread on Dinos and the best method for getting rid of each type.

In my new tank, I had Dino’s that disappeared at night and could “dusted” off with a wave of my hand. I got a cheap jebao UV sterilizer and went to town with a toothbrush.. Dino’s disappeared In 2 or 3 days.

FWIW, I also had some astereus snails and a Tonga fighting conch, and also dosed NeoPhos and NeoNitro b/c phosphates and nitrates were very low (0 or near to it) Not sure how much those contributed as well.

Dusted off, that sounds more like Diatoms. Dinos are bubble filled strings of snot. Maybe it was Dinos though, but you are very lucky to get rid of them in 2-3 days, even with UV.

I thought it was diatoms too but others here were sure it was Dino’s and I did the “coffee filter” test and got a nice string. Yeah, if it was Dino’s, it’s my understanding that I was pretty lucky. Hey, I’ll take it when I can get it!
