What is all this?

This stuff is stringy and gets all over everything and it's not that easy to do anything with it. I know the pictures aren't the best but it's all I got to work with. It's getting all over everything in the tank even my corals so if anyone can help it would be appreciated. All parameters are ok but phosphate is a little high last I checked. I do vodka dose so nitrates are 0 and stay at 0. I'm going to check phosphate levels and ill post back in a few mins.

Just used my Hanna phosphate and it read .15 so it's a little high but nothin to wild

Looks like green hair algae (GHA). Your phosphates are feeding it. Reduce your feeding or start using GFO to get rid of it.

I don't believe its gha because I had that before and this is totally different. It's sort of like snot looking or some kind of slime. I was wondering if maybe vodka dosing maybe causing it.

really hard to tell from the pictures. i have no idea from these pics but if it looks slimy perhaps it is some sort of slime algae. .15 on the phosphates is actually fairly high. i would find out why they are so high and figure out how to reduce them in order to starve out whatever type of algae it is.

Yea I know what caused it and I'm n the process of straightn it out. I've read that the vodka dosing might have caused a biological bloom is there any truth to this or has anyone else ever heard this?

If someone has been vodka dosing for about three months and then just cold turkey stops what will happen?

Personally haven't tried vodka dosing. I run gfo and carbon in a brs dual reactor to keep my phosphates low and it works well. But if u use gfo start out with a lot less than recommended and build your way up as needed. Hope this helps and hopefully someone who knows can help with the vodka dosing
