Are these fish bites? I do have gorilla crabs around due to TBS rock, would they do this? What fish would do this? They come overnight which makes me think it’s not fish....

Yea gorilla crabs for sure will mess up some acros but it’s hard to say exactly what it was from those pics.

I thought It was the PBT however I took that out and it still happened. I also have a regal angel and a Yellow tang that may be culprits but they always appear overnight which makes me suspect some night critter.

Ill try to get a better image but its in a weird spot

Do you have a file fish? Mine was eating my milliepora colonies and once it was removed they're recovering.

No filefish

Melanarus, H. chrysus, Royal gramma, Cardinalfish, PBT, Yellow tang, Kole tang, Regal Angel, dwarf lion, Clownfish

Bites are usually more uniform than just on the underside. Most fish like to nip at the tips. Personally, I would look eslewhere.

The Regal Angle is a very likely culprit. Don't know much about gorilla crabs, so I can't say. It does look like a fish bite to me.

So do you think more pathologic response from the coral or something causing the injury other than fish?

Ill have to watch him more closely. I will say most of the time this has happened I've seen him wedged in the rock work ( mostly after lights out). Not saying he isn't still a possible culprit. It also seems to only happen on mounted corals and not ones on the frag rack.

I can’t really get a good image but from a Top down it looks like there are more that I first though. Any way to deter fish of it is them? Would more feedings work?

I've had emerald crabs decimate SPS and pick off skin like eating corn on the cob. They ignored bubble algae.
