What is causing my GSP to stay closed??

Hi,
My green star polyp coral has been closed for over a week now, and I’m not sure why. The only things I see that could be keeping it disturbed are nuisance algae and these feather worms (I think they are). Any thoughts??

It can take them a month or more to come out at first.

Is it getting blasted by flow? Anything crawling on it like hermit crabs? I had one that used to sit on my gsp all day ticking it off.

Mine will randomly close for a week or more, then be perfect again for months with no discernable parameter or environmental changes. Yours does look like its got a bit of buildup on it though, not sure how sensitive they are to that to be honest

I have multiple frags of GSP and they seem to like mid level and good flow on them. Whenever I move a frag to the sand it closes up and wont open

Mine do this all the time. They’re just finicky. I don’t think a nuclear warhead could actually kill gsp if the mat is still ok

Looks dusty, use a turkey Bastor to clean and move it up to a rock, they hate the sand

But as stated above, they get ticked off for no reason, mine stayed closed for a month then opened and now is a weed

So I brushed some of the algae and detritus off of the coral a few days ago, and it’s finally opening after a really long time!
