What is covering my sand bed

I see mostly dinos and a few diatoms. The round shape and being in the sand leads me to thunkniys amphidinium dinoflagellates which does not respond to normal treatment methods. I had to remove all my sand to rid my tank of it. Sand removal is the most effective method of treatment for amphidinium. Increasing no3 and and po4 to 10-15 ppm and 0.10-0.18 will help prevent other types of dinos for tanking hold.

Did you go without sand completely? I ask because I have 2 wrasse that need sand or just remove and replace with new? I am slowly raising nutrients, I ordered some phytoplankton, I ordered silicates as I see people have results with dosing it.

I started uv today, I started my apex auto feeder back to help boost nutrients. I have phytoplankton and copepods coming from algaebarn, I also ordered silicates.

Updated pictures. I am feeding my normal reef frenzy and rods, added pellets 2x day. Auto feeder 2x day, UV Sterilizer, dosing phytoplankton.

Sand is now completely clean. I started dosing silicates in addition to uv and increased feeding.

I was going to recommend letting your nutrients creep up a bit but you BEAT me to it! lol. I had a discussion about this very subject a while ago back when everyone was being told high nutrients caused dinos. I was the weirdo saying the opposite. I think it got started over the claims made by what we thought was a Red Sea rep hawking No3po4x as a cure for dinos. Good times.

Yeah my phosphate is staying at 0.1 and nitrates 5-10 consistently now. Tank has never looked better.

Mature tanks always seem to have a certain look to them as far as the panels and rocks go. Yours is definitely there. Very nice.
