How can someone sell a coral a designer coral? Did they created it!? (NO) did they implement pigments/color to the polyp? (NO) I Don't get it. Here is definition for a word designer, just in case some of the sellers forget.

I guess I'll edit to my post. They only designer to [living] things is God! No human has a right to say they design something, you may be a designer for a pumps, tanks, lights,.... what ever. But you can't be designer for a coral. You didn't create it.

People went with "designer clownfish" which is correct usage in a way, and then were too lazy to come up with a new name for marketing corals.

It if a store unironically calls them that, it just means "hey we'll rip you off".

Nicer Interpretation is that they werent smart enough to come up with a better description for "name brand lineage"

They look fancy and so to make it even more fancy they call them designer zoas.. then they charge more because why not, someone will pay more for those "designer" blue jeans, zoas, clowns, etc. Its just part of the game, I think.

Coral collecting is like a game:
If it’s not rare or pricey, nobody wants it.
