looks like there is aquasunrise the reef breeders sells its around 450 but comes with wifi and app.
or for 100 less you could go with a V2 I have the v2 on my 90 reef and its a nice quality light. might just go with that.

Adam/Battlecorals uses the photon v2

Any thought on 2 kessil a80's should be less than 300$ lights and mounts

is there anyone out here running 2 kellsola A80 on a 40br? I do like the price and look of the light.
talk to BRS they think it would be fine for med light corals and such. but just dont know...you know. ha

I have 3 tanks that are about 40 breeder size that I use as a frag tank and 2 refugiums. they are lit by a mars aqua, another black box whos name eludes me, and a vipar spectra. I like the general color of the vipar best of the 3 so it is over my frag tank and it has only one power cord and is the most controllable of the 3. not a pretty or small unit but hard for me to think I could even diy something for as cheap as that unit is. it is a pain to set the timers but once I got it done they seem to work well. If I wanted really high light I would buy 2 of the vipars and then make a shroud around them to pretty them up. I also put diffuser plastic over the light to eliminate the disco effect and find it looks fine, at least good enough for my frag tank.

I use a jbj orion Lt 120 led. So far I can grow anything and the color is great.

Can't beat an ATI T5. I had my most success with a 24" 6 bulb + 2 reef brite LEDs on my 40 Breeder. I had LEDs in either side of the T5s for various reasons and the SPS survival was not great. T5s are by far the easiest to have success with (not that it isn't possible with LED). I just wish someone would have told me that when I was first setting up. I would have saved a bunch of money on LED fixtures.

I also wonder about this. I think it might work for me but would not do this on a SPS tank.
i'll look in to that some more. but prob the same as 2 AI primes might work but...??

It should give you good spread since it is 36 lenght and the fact that it isnt so deep either, theres nothing wrong with going towards primes too just about an extra 150$ though,i currently have 2 ai primes lighting my 90 gallon with softies and med to low light LPS works well

Use the Vipar spectra as stated above cheap and strong light plus built in timers is a bonus. I may choose down the road to add a supplemental led just for color but this does fine for now.

2 x 175W 10K Ushio halides supplemented with 2 x 39W T5 ATI Blue Plus

I get excellent growth rates, and I’m very satisfied with coloration. I build the hood myself—it’s not pretty, but gets the job done. Total cost with ballasts, bulbs, and materials was about $550.

can you post a pic of your tank? I know your running primes... I do like the price of the A80 but by the time you get 2 lights and 2 mounts you are AT $308 no to bad, but as well go with the V2 at that price point as it give my a lot of upgrade options...

Its my default picture if your able to look at it, true but i guess for you it would just come down to blend, ad you probably know kessil is one of the best at blending spectrums into a single color or as you said you have the v2 over your 90 if you love the way that looks, go with whats more pleasing to your eyes.

I have a V2 over my 40 qt and four over my 180. I really like this light. I'm getting great sps growth and coloration.
