I am getting ready to set up my Rimless SCA150 which will be running a Synergy 20'' External Overflow box and a pair of Orphek Compacts Gen 2 lights!
i am looking for some protection since I will be floating my canopy...

Would like to get you thoughts and some pictures of how you all cover your tanks that don't have canopies on.
Just for example , do you use lids / Did you use the BRS Framing kit etc etc?

BRS screen, lowes screen rails and spline. Clips for rimless tank from BRS.

You really cant even see the screen, unless viewing from the top down.

Of course you can go the premade route from like octoaquatics, or clearview, but they come at a hefty price tag.

count krunk & homer1475 thanks for the speedy response!

Care to share some pictures of the lids that are framed from BRS on your tanks?

Sure:

FTS. You can see the screen rail almost gives the tank a "rimmed" look:

Screen clips, I have 4 of these on each corner of the tank:

Sorry for all the blue, lights are just coming on for the day.

BRS 1/4" clear mesh and aluminum window screen parts from HD/Lowes for me. Easy, reasonable price, and they last for years if cared for properly. I do mine in two sections - a narrow strip in back with small slits for the cords to pass through and a larger section in front that is easily removable for maintenance.

I also just used supplies that I got from lowes to make mine, it's incredibly easy to make them as long as you don't need any inside corners.

I would say Octo aquatics if he would ever ship it, been waiting over 2 months for it

I used the RedSea diy kit and was easy to do. Looks ok and is a nice tight fit. I'll eventually get the Kraken Reef lid but it's spendy and money is going to corals and fish at the moment.

I used framing from Lowes in the past. On my new tank I used a D&D Jumpguard. Jumpguard is a thousand times better.

I've tried the DIY lids and sucked at it. So I had a custom one made from ClearView Lids. One of my best investments to my reef tank.

I echo this. I butchered the DIY lid because I didn't have the right cutting tools. Ordered a lid from ClearView...it took quite a while to get to me (patience in this hobby, right?) and was pricey but a gorgeous, solid lid.

For eurobraced I’d probably go with a DIY screen kit with the corner supports. The lid will be nearly flush with the eurobracing. This would also be my choice on a smaller AIO.

The acrylic lids are nice if you keep them clean. I have 3 lids from Clearview on 3 of my tanks. All the lids have large feed doors, and because of the accessibility via the large feed doors, the lids almost never have to be taken off the tank.

+1 on the Neat Aquatics corners. You can get the framing at any Lowe's/Home Depot. I have only found the clear 1/4" screen at BRS.
