I got a green bubble tip anemone from my LFS for 3 days now, and sometimes, when I wake up, the anemone is face down on the sand bed. I just pick it up and then place it on a rock again. It then extends is tentacles and is fully puffed up, but today... I noticed that the mouth is slightly gaping open, and its also swollen. Is this bad? How can I fix it if it is bad?

What are the parameters of your tank? Salinity, alk and calcium? They require an established tank with good lighting and stable water chemistry.

Open mouth is usually a bad sign. Are water parameters good? Could also be a lighting or water flow issue.

So the lighting is 2 aqua knight leds on a 20 gallon long tank as well as a nicrew saltwater led light. Going on for 6 months now. Last time I tested, all parameters were reasonable, but salinity is a bit high at 1.038. I will go test again

If he don’t stick, that be a bad.
Got a pic?

1.038?
That be a bad, salinity must stay on point at 1.025-1.026

so here are my basic parameters: Nitrate 0.5-1ppm
PH 7.8
Phosphate 0.5-1ppm
no ammonia or nitrite. I will test alk and calcium now

hm.. why does the anemone keep going onto the sand when it moves around? It goes onto the sand and then falls on its face.

A BTA would stick to rock work, they don’t like sand.
If he was an LTA, then yes, he would bury in the sand, but not upside down.
If he’s falling to the sand then flipping upside down, that would certainly indicate a problem.
If his foot was damaged, this would be real bad.

Are you saying that he’s stuck, then travels to the sand bed, then turns over?

Was he bought from LFS or shipped?

What colour is he?

Maybe a pic of him and a FTS might help.

a green bta, bought from lfs, i think when he goes onto the sand, but when he tries to go back onto the rock, he just flips over
