What is going on with my snail?

I pulled this snail out of one of our tanks today as it was semi buried in the sand and I thought it was dead. It had some slime stuck to the opening of the shell, I shook it off, but it looked like there was algae in side, so I put the whole thing in a bucket. I came back by later, and it looked like the picture. Does anyone have any idea what this is? I've had this tank about 4 months, I bought it from someone and just moved it and all it's inhabitants. Thanks in advance.

No expert but if its coming from inside, I don't think living things have algae growing on them... Has it shown signs of life since you pulled it out?

Edit: Just realized that doesn't look like algae. Are those worms?!

It looks to me like your snail shell is home to a spaghetti worm.
