So I used chemiclean about 2 weeks ago due to a cyano issue that started getting out of hand. I typically dont use chemicals as they do more bad than good, but i used chemiclean once before with good results so felt comfortable doing so.

Well, now my tank looks like this!! What in the world happened? Anyone have this after using chemiclean? It's like a mix of gha and rust covered gha. The rust stuff comes off easily with a toothbrush.
And I have some cyano popping up again on my sand.

Hard to tell TBH, to me it looks like GHA covered in Dinos. Dinos are a relatively common side effect of Chemiclean it seems (I had the same issues when I used Chemiclean).

The gha is most certainly there, which popped up after the chemiclean as well. my po4 and no3 are low. .058 and 5-10. I've had to turn off cheato light to stop the po4 from going too low. So could be a form of dino

How long did it take for your tank to get back to normal. My entire rock work now looks like this in a 180.

It took a few months but it did turn around and both the GHA and Dinos disappeared. But it took a fair bit of work, I focused on the dinos first and then beefed up my CUC to take care of the GHA.

I don’t think it’ll help the hair algae, but I added a UV after dinos showed up and it cleared them up in around a week. I’m still running the UV and haven’t seen a trace of them since.

I think i have an old turbo twist in the garage that needs a bulb!

I think the most important thing you have going for you in the fight is you haven't totally bottomed out your Phos and Nitrate.

The mistake I made using chemiclean was after it was all done I did a huge WC and it bottomed out almost everything which gave me the dinos... badly.

A picture under a microscope would tell for sure. I had the same thing happen after using Chemiclean. ID is important because different species of dinos (if that's what it is) respond to different strategies. There is a thread in the nuisance algae forum that describes it in detail.
