I have a container that I keep saltwater mix that has been made. Today I noticed that there are some brown stuff growing at the bottom of it. I did a ammonia test and seems to be around 0.25ppm. Does anyone know what could it be? Many thanks in advance!

What type of salt are you using and how long have you been mixing it in that bin?
I'm using TMC salt. Bin had been used for 5-6 months. My RO container is clean. Additionally I tested both RO and saltwater for ammonia. RO was 0; however, saltwater gave me around 0.25ppm.

Most salts leave a residue that builds up over time. While testing for ammonia wasn’t a bad idea a reading of .25ppm is likely a false positive as most ammonia test kits will always show a non 0 reading.

Agree ^^^ with one clarification. Salts can be contaminated with a low level of ammonium. Not a concern though.
