Hi there, can't seem to figure out what is growing in my zoas, as the zoas grow, so does the small the small green tentacle looking things ~ now there are two...... Any idea? Looks sorta like an anemone.

Thanks much!

Google Majano Anemone and see if that looks like what you're seeing :)

Hmmm, not sure if it's a majano. Not quite the same resemblance. Here's another picture. this one was taken a few months later.

Oh wow, just saw a different picture of a majano, but it was called anemonia gracilis, the graceful anemone. Same genus, but different species. So I"m not sure what I'm supposed to do with that.

Oh wow, just saw a different picture of a majano and it looks exactly like what I have, crap.... need to get rid of these buggers I suspect!
Correct, unwanted pest anemone.

Kill it with fire

Yep, this is what I think it is.... @ZA, kill with fire? Not sure how to do that one. (and oh, picture was from Hypostatic on nano-reef.com)

Best way is to manually remove them and put either superglue or puddy on the rock where they were to prevent them from growing back if any little pieces of them get left behind. Be very careful doing this with zoanthids near by, if you irritate them enough and they carry the palytoxin you risk them releasing it. Another thing you can do is get a syringe and fill it with hot water and inject hot water into the anemone or lemon juice i've heard works as well. I know peppermint shrimp eat aptasia, not sure if they'll eat majano's though...

Thanks much, guess I'm injecting some critters this weekend!

I just killed one yesterday using aiptasia x
Squirted the first bit into the centre disc then completely covered the rest of the nem with the liquid
I Turned my pumps off for 15 mins and just let it sit there burning away lol
No more majano :)
