What is growing on my astrea?

Hi all,
My hubby just picked up a small clean up crew from our local store. We noticed 1 of the snails has something growing on it. Anyone know what it is & if we should remove it or leave it?

Well it stuck a feather in it's hat, and became a Yankee doodle snail. Lol
