any advice on which to move and how w/o removing the rock from the tank?

I didn't even see the digi on the right when I was on my phone. Move the blasto away from both. Ideally, you can get under it and pry off the plug, unless you mounted straight to the rock.

But is it actually getting attacked? I've got a blasto that frequently looks very simular to this. A polyp or 3 will start to sag downwards and after a few weeks it falls off and into the sand. I've had it do this several times. The polyps start growing in the sand. Its like it self-frags. The orignial colony returns back to normal after it pinches off.

If its not yet, it will eventually. Favia, or what is now called dipsastraea, can send out long sweepers.
