What is happening to my fish??!

Now might be the right time to treat, especially the clowns for sure. It also looks like the right time to get a hospital setup, not your sump. I have a 10g Rubbermaid Roughneck tub I set up and use if/as needed as mine, with a sponge filter and small heater. It is simple and inexpensive to set up.

Would you recommend to threat every fish in the tank or only the ywg and the clowns?

You can cut holes in the lid to accommodate equipment cords.

Yes I have some spare big euroboxes around I could set up a qt with that, good idea..

I don’t know what the right answer to that is, TBH. Given all our problems with antibiotic resistance I would probably be more likely to treat the ones that have a visible infection.

6 in total. I have a bicolor blenny, a chromis and a sixline wrasse, but they look ok now

I would be more inclined to treat the clowns for sure and possibly the YWG if that one still shows signs of infection, if it was me.

This looks like what is a mouth injury (not unusual with bickering clowns) that has developed into a bacterial infection hence the mouth open , just like when humans get a mouth sore. Ive seen this happen also when they are exclusively fed pellet foods (like eating a small stone and causing damage).
Treatment will be use of a broad spectrum antibiotic such as (in order of effectiveness):
- Seachem kanaplex
- Seachem Neoplex and Focus
- Ruby Rally Pro
- Maracyn 2

Questions:
How is the breathing rate from fish?
Is it eating ?
How long has this been Present ?
What foods are you feeding fish?
Any symptoms on bodies of other occupants?

The clowns are eating well. The one with the mouth covered in white lumps is less active ans sometimes has some short "convulsions" like its shaking, not sure how to describe it. Breathing rate seems normal.
I feed every fish a mix of frozen (mysis and brine alternated), frozen seafood mix homemade and pellet (microbelift marine gran). Usually frozen/pellet 50/50 (e.g. frozen one day, pellet next day).
Apart from ywg and clowns the others look ok. Is it possible that suddenly within a month the ywg and after both clowns scratched themselves in different part of the body?
Also the clowns are very peaceful, I have never seen them biting or annoying eachother or other inhabitants

Hi all.
I am quite tired of the hobby right now, everything seems going the wrong way.
Few weeks ago I noticed my YWG had a big white lump near its head

And now my clowns have some sort of parasite:

One of them cannot completely close the mouth. It happened fast because last week they looked ok.
I did not quarantine them under the suggestion of my LFS, since they had them in the same tank for a while and they looked perfect for months in my tank.
What disease you think it is?

Man DO NOT get demoralized. I inherited a crashed tank with two clowns and a blue tang when my GF bought her house. The kid who had the tank had downsyndrome and took zero care of it for FIVE YEARS. The tank was a sewer and was so grown over with scum you couldn't even see if there were fish. I pulled the fish and cleaned it up for 15 hrs.

>1000+ off the charts calcium
>zero filtration

After I cleaned it up I put them back in and added some corals with nitrates at 50 and phosphates at 1.7 and the corals are happy and now levels are all ideal. They are the happiest, healthiest and most social fish I've ever seen. I have no idea how those fish survived for 5 years like that.

Sometimes you just get bad luck and it has nothing to do with skill.

I just checked and the seachem antibiotics would take 2 weeks to get here by shipping (!!). I fear the clown with the mouth filled with infection will not survive for so long. I will set up an emergency qt for the clowns today and see on Monday how to get some antibiotics. For the ywg there is no chance to catch him without risking to damage the tank I fear..

Yeah man I am just disappointed because since I started this tank things never went smooth. First dino, struggling macros, then gha, corals dying because of PO4, now fish being sick. I just wanted few frags thriving and some fish not a prize tank

The many challenges we face until tank becomes well established
One thing I refuse is to allow a fish to do is kick me in the butt!

Ruby rally pro also good
A freshwater dip for 5 minutes may help but often less with bacteria

The only product I found that I can get soon-ish is called esha trimarin. Not sure how effettive it is.. I will also try with some garlic soak. I am setting up a qt with some LR rubble I kept in the sump

If I leave the YWG in the DT, will the clowns catch it again once I reintroduce them to the DT?
It seems impossible to capture.. any suggestions?
it is quite skittish, as long as I am around it will go back to its burrow, which is under the main rockwork.
My fear is that if I remove the rocks one by one:
1) my only frag there (hammer) will die
2) I will not be able to re-glue them together (I did it when they where dry)
3) a lot of stuff will be released in the water

since its doing well and the white spot seems receding I was hoping I could leave it there. Also I guess the bacterias are already in the water column (?)

It should not vomit obviously keep an eye on all fish for at least 20 days

I am still waiting for the medicine but the clowns are getting worse real fast.
The one with the infection in the mouth now has many parts striped in red (blood I guess) and one eye is popping out. Also he cannot breathe well and swims always by the surface. I don't think he will make it even if I get the shipping today. The other has the infection spreading in other parts of the mouth. I hope I can at least save him. Incredibly the other fish in the DT seems fine, I assume it is some strain that those clowns are particularly susceptible to. At least I learnt a new lesson: always keep some medicine for emergencies, there is no time for orders, at least here in EU. I also called some LSF around here but they did not sell the seachem producs, I think you need vet prescription for this stuff.

The clown is getting worse real quick and I did not receive yet the meds. I am quite sure he will not reach tomorrow. Is there a way I can identify the bacteria/diesease that caused this ? I have access to microscope room and molecular lab at uni @vetteguy53081
