I recently got a new power head and placed it in my tank. Is the toadstool mad or is it dying. To me it looks like it’s dying. I have never seen it she’d either and have only had it for about 2 months now. Any idea on what could be happening?

All parameters within normal bounds and no swings from previous water test

Here are pics of what it looked like last week. I should also note I can’t really remember of it was retracted before I added the new power head or after. I have a feeling it was actually a day before

It could be molting. They molt from time to time, in a day or two you will see a thin layer of “skin” coming off the top of it is molting

Agree. They get waxy looking, slough off skin then return to normal. As long as powerhead isn’t pointing right at it, it should be OK.

What kind of light are you running?

They are very moidy and this is not abnormal.
i notice a lot of hair algae forming and it needs to be addressed before it gets out of control
Reduce white light intensity and add some snails:
Turbo
Astrea
Nassarius
Nerite
trochus
Some blue leg hermits

assure leather is getting moderate light and water flow. Giving it some gentle blasts with a turkey baster generally perks it up

Power head is right above it but the stream is probably 2 inches above it. I moved it to increase flow near it but not direct flow

I'd be more worried about the hair algae explosion that happened in a week. Should try getting that under control

It actually used to be way worse. I was using tap water before I switched to ro/di. I had a really bad Cyano outbreak I’ve now got under control. I have a bunch of snails already taking care of it

That hair algae has been there it was under the Cyanobacteria. I’ve finally got that under control so now it’s to the hair algae. I’m doing another water change tomorrow just for that
