I looked in my tank today and noticed that my brittle starfish didn't look right so after a bit of a fight I finally got him out and here is what I am talking about:

Check your water params quickly...salinity, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates would be my first tests.

I just tested and my alk is really low so I would guess so is my PH. Salinity is at 1.025 ammonia-0 Nitrate-5 calcium 440 mag-1100

Will it heal if I put him in my sump so no one can bother him or is he a goner? also will it spread?

These things are masters of regeneration...as long as the problem is corrected.

I've never heard of this spreading like a disease...but someone more experienced on the subject should chime in on that.

Yea I noticed my alk was low yesterday and added some but I am working on getting it up.

Yep, stability is the key. Just get your parameters back in check and keep an eye on it. It shouldn't spread to anything else. With a little luck, it may heal up in time??
