what is in my "green water"?

ID would be much easier with a static 'picture' as compared to swimming. But - at least one can say its 'motile'. What were you hoping to grow in your 'green water'? Is your 'green water' green? What magnification are you using?
Would it be possible to get a static more highly magnified picture?
What was the source for your green water?
Many phytoplankton are motile BTW

I had hope to be growing nanno and tetra. I'll settle for anything that my pods will find beneficial and edible.

PS - this article shows motile phytoplankton that look like yours - I looked through it before - its long - just scroll down until you see the one or 2 that look like your pictures.

I don't see a link to the article? The source of my nanno and tetra is from reef chasers. But, I have topped off the jugs a dozen times and both of them are next to each other. I have two containers growing under grow lights with my tomato and pepper plants. Not the most industrial operation
Yes the water is green. It grows crazy fast and I have more of it than I know what to do with at this point.

The more I look at it the more I think you may be right. I think this slide has both nano and tetra on it. Nano in the bottom let corner. Thoughts?

Perhaps but looks big for nanno, maybe just tet cells in-line with the scope. Nanno is half the size of tetraselmis.
It's hard ime to have multiple strains next to each other. Often they get mixed and then one of them takes over. Tetraselmis has taken over my nanno cultures more than once.

Nannochloropsis is also non-motile, so it should be green, significantly smaller, not swimming, and vaguely spherical (depends on whether it's splitting or not). It's also been my experience that it's 2-3x as likely to crash using the same methodology as other strains I've tried, so I'd certainly believe it could get 'infected' and overtaken with another strain. While it may vary with species and lighting schedule, the nannochloropsis I grew was always a lighter shade of green than the tetraselmis.
I can't say the video looks hugely like the tetraselmis I'm growing, but the behavior is familiar and the general slightly oblong shape seems about right (a little like if you took a kiwi or similar oblong fruit and smushed it to like 2/3 height). Which objective is this under? Do you have an approximate size for a cell?
