Michael Green posted Feb 11, 2018 at 2:42 PM[/GALLERY] Some sort of algae? It's starting to take over one of my small tanks. Growing on the rock, back glass, equipment, everything. It's growing over the coralline algae. I took a small piece of live rock out of the tank that had this growing all over it and put it in a bucket of saltwater with a heater and a pump. I put a lid on it so no light could get through and it disappeared after 2 weeks. But, so did everything else growing on the rock.

I believe it is a form of macroalgae but I don't remember the name off the top of my head. Perhaps someone in the #reefsquad can help more :)

Just for curiosity what are the system parameters??

No3 0 ppm
Po4 .16 ppm
ALK 5.2 DKH
Cal 500+ ppm
Salinity 1.026
Temp 77.9
The tank mainly has some softies, anemone, some clown fish, and is use as a quarantine tank for incoming corals. I had to pull my frag racks out and clean this stuff off of them. When you clean it off with hot water and vinegar, it smell so bad it makes you want to puke.
